Residential AC Sizing - 1 CEU

Description
Air conditioners are normally sized too large, thinking it will provide better cooling. However, an oversized air conditioner is actually less effective — and wastes energy at the same time. Air conditioners remove both heat and humidity from the air. If the unit is too large, it will cool the room quickly, but only remove some of the humidity. This leaves the room with a damp, clammy feeling. A properly sized unit will remove humidity effectively as it cools. In this class; you will learn how to properly size an air conditioning unit for the home. You will also learn:

1. What is involved when sizing residential AC units.
2. You will see why short-cut sizing methods can lead to sizing problems.
3. You will understand how to determine a home’s cooling load so it can be used to correctly size an air conditioner.
4. Gain a better understanding of why proper residential AC sizing can help us to improve the comfort, energy efficiency and durability of our homes.
