SAFETY SERIES -Lead Safety - .25 CEU

Description
Lead is a naturally occurring element found in small amounts in the earth’s crust. While it has some beneficial uses, it can be toxic to humans and animals, causing health effects.

If the residence you will be working in was built prior to 1978, an invisible health issue may exist in the home: Lead Based Paint. By disturbing lead based paint surfaces during home renovations or repairs, contractors may create a lead hazard in homes without realizing it. To address this issue, in 2008, EPA amended the Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. The rule requires contractors to be certified and to follow lead safe work practices.

In this course you will learn:

1. How to meet the requirements of the law under the Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule.
2. Training Requirements under that Rule.
3. Lead Safe Work Practices to keep yourself and the occupants safe.
4. Documentation requirements for the job.
5. An overview of the contents of the EPA pamphlet.
